1. What is the minimum number of square marbles required to the floor of length 5m 78 cm and width 3m 74cm.
SOLUTION :
Length = 5m 78cm = 578cm
Breadth = 3m 74cm = 374cm
LCM of 578 and 374 = 6358
HCF of 578 and 374 = 34
Required minimum number of tiles = 6358 / 34
Required minimum number of tiles = 187

2. Find the degree of the clock hand 2 hours and 40 minutes
SOLUTION :
Angle traced by the clock hand in 24 hours = 360 degree
Angle traced by it in 2 hours 40 minutes ie) 8/3 hours
= 360/12 * 8/3
= 10 * 8 = 80 degrees

3. How many times a day clock hand coincide with each other ?
SOLUTION:
The hands of a clock coincide 11 times in every 12 hours.
( Since between 11 and 1 they coincide only once ie) at 12 o’clock)
Hence they coincide with each other 22 times in a day.

4. If Rs. 100 is doubled in compound in 5 years then how many years would it take to another Rs. 200 ?
SOLUTION :
Principal amount = Rs.100
Compound interest = Rs. 100
Time = 5 years
Rate % = Compound Interest * 100 100 * 100
————————————— = ————- = 20 %
Principal * Time 100 * 5
=> Rate = 20 %
Hence the new principal = Rs.100 , rate = 20 % and the time = x years
Time = Compound Interest * 100 100 * 100
——————————- = ————- = 5 years
Principal * rate 100 * 20
Hence after 5 years the principal amount gets twice in its share
