ADF – Interview Aptitude Questions – Payilagam – Part – IV

Here in this blog we are discussing about ADF – Interview Aptitude Questions – Payilagam – Part – IV

1. The price of sugar increase by 20 % by what % should the housewife reduce the consumption of sugar so that the expenditure on sugar can be as same as before .

        a) 15 % b) 16.66  %     c)  12 %              d)  9 %

         SOLUTION :

Let the price of sugar be Rs.100.

            Since the given increase in price is 20 %   =    20 / 100  * 100  = Rs. 20

Then the increased in price of sugar  = Rs. 120

            Percentage of consumption =  ( Rs. 20 / Rs. 120 )  * 100

                                                                     = 100 / 6         =    16.66 %

2.The average weight of three boys A , B and C is 54(1/3) kgs , while the average weight of B ,D and E is 53 kgs. What is the average weight of A , B , C, D and E ?

      a) 52.4 kg             b) 53.2 kg          c )  8 kg          d) Data inadequate

         ANSWER : DATA INADEQUATE

           SOLUTION:

            Average weight of A , B  and C   =   54(1 / 3)  kgs =   163 / 3 kgs

  •          Total weights of A , B and C = ( 163 / 3) * 3   = 163 kgs

             Average weights of B , D and E =    53 kgs

  •          Total weights of B , D and E =   53 * 3  = 159 kgs

               From both the cases we get    A + B + C   =   163

                                                                        B + D + E    =    159

                        On adding we get A ,2B , C,D and E =    322 kgs

To find their average weight we need to know the weight of B which is                                       unknown.

3.A solid box was 15 cm by 10 cm by 8 cm. A new solid is formed by removing a cube of 3 cm from on a side , from each each corner of the box. What percentage of the original volume is removed.

        a) 7               b) 12              c) 18            d) 24

            SOLUTION :

                            Volume of the solid box =  15 x 10 x 8 =    1200  cm3

             Volume of the cube of side 3cm = 3x 3 x3 = 27 cm3

In a solid box there are 8 corners ,

  •                                    Volume removed = 27 x 8 = 216 cm3
  • Percentage of the original volume removed =  ( 216 / 1200 ) * 100
  •                                                                                       = 216 * 100 /  1200
  •                                                                                      = 18 %

4.In an engineering entrance test a student scores 4 marks for every correct answer and loses 1 mark for wrong answer. A student attempts all the 100 questions and scores 210 marks. The number of questions he answered correctly was?

 a) 70                 b) 62           c) 64            d) 68

              ANSWER :    62

            SOLUTION :

Total marks scored  =  210 marks

          Possibilities : i)  70 =   70 * 4 – 30 * 1   =  280 -30  = 250   ( WRONG)

                                     ii) 62 = 62 * 4 – 38 * 1    =  248 – 38  = 210 ( CORRECT)

                                    iii) 64 = 64 * 4 – 36 * 1   =  256 – 36    = 220  ( WRONG)

                                      iv) 68 = 68 * 4 – 32 * 1 =  272 –   32    = 240  (WRONG)
