SOFTEON Fresher Interview Questions – Part – I

Here in this blog we are discussing about SOFTEON Fresher Interview Questions

 Part – I. Some of them are :

 1 .The petrol tank of an automobile can hold g liters . If a liters was removed , when the tank was full , then what part of the full tank was removed ?

   a)   g – a           b)  g / a            c) a / g          d) ( g – a) / a

            SOLUTION :

    If the petrol tank can hold 20 liters ( g = 20 liters ) and  5 liters was  removed

          ( a = 5 liters ) when the tank was full .

                   Then , 1 / 4 th  tank will be removed . Since 5 / 20  = 1 / 4

    Hence  , ( a / g ) part of the full tank will be removed.

2.  If x / y = 4 and  y is not equal to zero , then what  % of x is  2x – y  ?

   a) 150 %            b) 175 %       c) 200 %          d) 250 %

SOLUTION :

           Given ,  x / y  = 4          =>  y = x / 4

                 Now ,        2x   –  y  =   2x  – ( x / 4)

                                                  =  ( 8x – x ) / 4

                                                  =    7x / 4

            %  of x in 2x – y      =   ( 7x  / 4 ) * 100 %

                                                 =    7 * 25

             %  of x in 2x – y     =  175  %

3. What is the maximum number of half – pint bottles of cream that can be    filled in a 4 gallon can of cream ?

 a)   16              b)   24             c)   30            d)   64

    ( HINT : 2 pint = 1 quart  ,  4 quart = 1 gallon )

SOLUTION :

                    Given , 4 gallons of cream to be filled in half – pint bottles .

             1  gallon =   4 quart

                             =   4 ( 2 pint )             ( since  1 quart = 2 pint )

                            =   8 pint

  • 4 gallon = 8 * 4      =   32 pint
  • 4 gallon = 2 *  32   =   64   half pint

     Thus the number of half pint bottles  =   64

4.There are 200 questions on a 3 hour examination . Among these questions are 50 mathematical problems . It is suggested that twice as much as time be spent on each maths problem as for every other problem . How much time should be spent on each mathematical problem ?

  a) 36                b)   72              c)   60          d)   100

           SOLUTION :

                  Since each mathematical problem takes twice the amount of time than  the      other question.

            Time taken to solve 50  mathematical questions =

                                                           Time taken to solve  other 100 questions

                   Proceeding like this we get 100 + 150 questions  =  250 questions

                                             Time taken to solve 250 questions =  180 minutes

  •                                   Time taken to solve 100 questions = ( 180 / 250  ) * 100
  •                                                                                                        =   18 * 4

                      Time taken to solve 50 mathematical questions = 72 minutes

5 .     If 13 = 13w/ (1-w) ,then (2w)2=

      (a) 1 / 4     (b) 1/2          (c) 1         (d) 2

   SOLUTION :

                                Given          13        =   13 w / ( 1- w )

                                           13 ( 1- w )    =   13  w

                                              13 – 13 w  =   13  w

                                                        13     =   13 w + 13 w   =  26 w

                                                         w    =  13 / 26

                                                        w     =  1 / 2
