SOFTEON Fresher Interview Questions – Part – II

Here in this blog we are discussing about SOFTEON Fresher Interview Questions – Part – I. Some of them are :

  1.If a and b are positive integers and (a-b )/3.5 = 4/7, then

         a) a < b         (b) b > a       (c) b = a         (d) b >= a

       SOLUTION :

                    Given ,   ( a – b ) /  3.5  = 4  /  7

                                              ( a  – b ) = ( 3.5 * 4 ) / 7

                                                 a – b   =  14  / 7

                                                             =   2

                       Hence   a – b =  2        =>    a   =   b + 2

                                                                =>  b  <  a

2.In June a baseball team that played 60 games had won 30% of its game played. After a phenomenal winning streak this team raised its average to 50% .How many games must the team have won in a row to attain this average?

a) 12      (b) 20                   (c) 24                    (d) 30

      SOLUTION :

                  If  60 games are played they won 30 % of the game only.

                   Out of 60 games they won only 18 games only.

         To raise their average to 50 % they need to play more games

  •                                30 % of 60 =  18
  •                      ( 30 * 60 ) / 100 = 18

                       Then   50 % of  60 games   =   x games

                                        ( 50 * 60 ) / 100   =   30 games

3. M men agree to purchase a gift for Rs. D. If three men drop out how much more will each have to contribute towards the purchase of the gift ?

 (a) D / M – 3      (b) MD/3            (c) M/( D – 3)       (d) 3D/(M – 3)

     SOLUTION :

            Let D = Rs. 100  be  the  cost of the gift .

                  M = 5 men purchasing that gift.

                Then each man’s contribution  =    Rs. 100 /  5  =  Rs. 20

             Now if three men drop out  D = Rs. 100 but  M =  5 – 3  = 2 men

                Then the contribution  will be   =      Rs. 100  / (5 – 3 )   = Rs. 50

                                                                       =    D /  ( M – 3 )

4. A company contracts to paint 3 houses. Mr. Brown can paint a house in 6 days while Mr. Black would take 8 days and Mr. Blue ’12 days. After 8 days Mr. Brown goes on vacation and Mr. Black begins to work for a period of 6 days. How many days will it take Mr. Blue to complete the contract?

        (a) 7                       (b) 8                         (c) 11                         (d) 12

 SOLUTION :

                 Mr. Brown’s one day work  for one house   =    1 / 6

                 Mr. Black’s one day work   for one house     =    1/ 8

                 Mr.  Blue’s one day work   for one house      =  1 / 12

            Then Mr. Brown’s  8 days work for three house   =    8( 1 / 3* 6 ) = 8 / 18

                      Mr. Black’s   6 days work for three house    =    6 (1 / 3* 8) =  6 / 24

                      Mr. Blue’s   6 days work for three house     =   x ( 1 / 3 * 12 ) = x /36

        Mr. Brown and Mr. Black at most finished  ( 8 / 18  ) +( 6 /24 )  =   50 / 72

                                                                                                                        =   25 / 36

           Remaining work  need to be done by Mr. Blue  =    1 – ( 25 / 36 )

                                                                                  X / 36   = ( 36 – 25 ) / 36    =    11 / 36

                                                                              X    =   11 days

5. 2 hours after a freight train leaves Delhi a passenger train leaves the same station travelling in the same direction at an average speed of 16 km/hr. After travelling 4 hrs the passenger train overtakes the freight train. The average speed of the freight train was?

a) 30 (b) 40         (c) 58             (d) 60

         SOLUTION :

               Total time taken  for the passenger train =  2 hours  + 4 hours   =   6  hours

               Total distance covered by the passenger train               =  16 * 6  =   96 km

                                      (  Since   Distance  =   Speed * Time )

               Total  time taken for the freight train          =   4  hours

              Total distance covered by the freight train   =  96  km

                       Then the speed of the freight train       =  96 / 4  =  24 km / hr

         As they travel in the same direction their relative speed  = (  24 + 16  ) km / hr

                Then the average speed of the freight train was   40  km / hr
